Nizzie, your latest single “Philippines(Remix)” feat. Wiz Khalifaha just reached the national digital radio charts at #89 and is currently #15 on the independent radio charts. How does it feel to be on the radio charts?
It all still feel so surreal. It’s amazing to know that the music is finally getting heard and that people are really receptive to my music.
Is there a music video coming for “Philippines” in the near future?
I don’t know yet. I’m still toying with the idea. If we do a video, it has to be done right. The original Philippines video gained over 100,000 views and its still growing, so we would have to do something bigger and better.
Describe your journey and what it took to get this kind of level in your early career.
To get to to this kind of level I had to get used to being turned down and turning that negative situation into a positive one. I had to realize that there are no fairy God parents in this industry , and that I had the power within myself to go out and achieve my goals. Once I started believing in myself, then other people started believing in me. I’m so thankful for my and the people behind “Nizzie” . Without the hard work and dedication of the people behind me, I wouldn’t be here today.
What keeps you inspired and motivated everyday as your success grows?
Seeing my peers succeed motivates me. I met a producer named Supah Mario at a local event, and 6 months later he’s on Drakes new album. One on my young boys used to come to my mother in law’s house and record in her extra room. Now he’s getting calls from XXL because he produced XXL Freshman, Playboi Carti’s album. I have friends that are on TV shows and movies. Seeing them succeed not only showed me first hand that it’s possible to achieve your goals, but also that I’m on the right track at what I’m doing.
“Philippines” and its remix is a success. Do you know what your next single will be? Do you have a release date for your next project?
I’m putting the finishing touches on my album titled “MTA: Mixtape That’s an Album”. I’m not sure what is going to be the next single. I’ll let the team decide that. I have so many possibilities. For right now I don’t have a release date. I’m just focused on taking Philippines as far as I can.
What can we expect to hear from your next release?
MTA will give you a small glimpse into my life and many events in my life that led up to the creation of the album. Love, pain, and punch line humor.
