Producer Spotlight: Fiya On Da Track(@FiyaProduction)

Q: How did you first get into hip-hop culture?

A: I grew up in it. Coming from an urban background, it’s just what you see and hear. Mom and pops listen to many oldies and R&B of the 90’s. My cousins were more of the hip-hop heads. They played music from Scarface, Rakim, Run DMC, Mystikal, Tupac, Biggie, and many more.

Q: Who were your influences growing up?
A: I loved Swiss Beats, Manny Fresh and Timberland.
Q: Did you always wanna be a producer?
A: Initially I started rapping with two other guys in high school, then my cousins. As I got older, I appreciated the instrumental aspect of it. I would take an old keyboard, play the preset drum patterns, and create my own melodies with the keys and record the sounds with any recording device I could get me hands on.
Q: How has your production grown over the years?
A: Yes! Tremendously.
Q: What is your favorite equipment or software to use?
A: I’ve used so many. Right now my weapon of choice is FL Studio of course.
Q: What is your most successful song you have produced?
A: I consider all of them successful. I love to create. Each track has progressed me further along in this area.
Q: What artists would you like to do a song for?
A: Several. Right now Rihanna. My diverse sound would work with her style.
Q: What are you currently working on?
A: Currently I’m working on my personal EP called “The Rant”. I just released a mixtape with vocals I jacked from industry artist and placed my production over it called “Verses 2”. I released it on May 19th.

Q: Any projects coming up in the near future?

A: I want to start working on my 3rd installment of “Give Me My Credit”. It’s a compilation of artist that can lease or purchase a track that they create a song to and I place it on the compilation. The track can also be used for their personal project as well.
Q: How can people find you online?
A: Easy! You can visit my company website – and follow me on social media @FiyaProduction. That handle is used for Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook.
Any last words or shout outs? – Be Great!
