Q1.  You will be playing the iconic Tommy Oliver aka the Original Green Power Ranger. How does that make you feel when you think about it or when someone says it?
A1. The feeling is almost indescribable. It still doesn’t quite feel real. He is my favorite Power Ranger of all time and I get to be him! It’s so crazy! I am extremely grateful that I have the opportunity to pay tribute to Tommy Oliver and all of his fans.

Q2. How did you learn of the PR:ZENITH fan film? What made you wanna audition for the role?
A2. I first found out about the PR:Zenith project from Ransom Pugh while we were working on the set of Ezekiel’s Landing. He told me that he was going to be the Red Ranger in a PR fan series. Right after he told me this, I scooted my chair extremely close to his, positioned my face directly in front of his, probably a little closer than I should have, looked him directly in the eyes, and told him I will do anything to be a part of this project. Then he got me in touch with Emmanuel and I got to audition for a role.
Having the chance to possibly be in a Power Rangers project made me want to audition.

Q3. What have you been doing both physically and mentally to prepare for the character Tommy?
A3. I have been doing a lot of things! To prepare physically, I have changed up my workout routines quite a bit, and have even had a personal trainer co-worker of mine help me out to push me some more. My diet has been as well changed to supplement the new workouts. I have been practicing martial arts a lot more. My martial art experience is mainly with the arts associated with MMA, some capoeira experience, and now the Keysi Fighting method. Mentally I have just been watching a lot of MMPR so I can bring the feel of the original Tommy Oliver into 2015.

Q4. What qualities do you and Tommy share?
A4. Well, we both have long hair and look great in green. We both also have a passion for martial arts, and for Kimberly of course.

Q5. What kind of interaction have you had with the rest of the Ranger cast?
A5. We have all kinds of interaction! We are way more than just fellow cast members on this project. We hang out together, go grocery shopping together, work at farmers markets together, go bowling together, and we are just there for one another when life happens.  I am Emmanuel’s son’s adopted uncle now. If that is not an actual thing, it is now(haha).  I know it’s a little cliché to say, but we really have become a family. It’s great!

Q6. What will this re-imagined version of this story arc bring that wasn’t in the original series?
A6. A lot more character development! You will really get to see what goes on in the lives of these teenagers who were suddenly given a responsibility that none of them could ever imagine having. I think the fans will really get attached to the characters and get emotionally involved with everything they go through.

Q7.What’s the most fun that you have had with this character thus far?
A7. I have always loved watching the behind the scenes stuff of movies. So just the process of becoming this character has been a lot of fun! For example, getting fitted for the suits, the weight training, the martial arts training, reading the scripts, the mental preparation, fight rehearsals, coming up with the fight choreography with Emmanuel and Brandon, and becoming so close with everyone involved with this project. I have loved the entire process thus far! It has been a lot of work, but totally worth it!

Q8. How can the public keep up with you and the PR:Zenith project online?
A8. I am on facebook and instagram at https://www.facebook.com/derek.kunzman.3, and https://instagram.com/derekkunzman/,  the PR:Zenith page is also on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/PowerRangersZenith?fref=ts, instagram at https://instagram.com/mmpr_zenith_, and youtube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6-ZRCTx7vGO03Heh-ymNWQ/feed.

Q9. Any last words or shout outs?
A9. Thank you for wanting to interview me and taking the time to do so! It has been a real pleasure! I do want give a shout out to the PR:Zenith fans and would like to thank you for all of your support! All of us involved with this project are huge Power Ranger fans, and film is our passion! We are doing everything we can to make this the best experience possible! Thank you again ☺
